Questions and Answers
When is my company accounts filing deadline?
I run a company with the 31st March year-end, is my deadline the same as the 31st January tax return filing deadline?

The company filing and company tax deadlines you need to be aware of (for a 31st March year-end) are:
- submitting the Company’s accounts to Companies House by 31st December
- paying Corporation Tax by 1st January (not the 31st!)
- submitting the Company Tax Return by 31st March
These deadlines are assuming it is not the company’s first year following incorporation, in which case the deadlines would be different.

Companies that do not submit their accounts to Companies House on time will incur an automatic £150 penalty. Penalties then increase until the accounts are filed.
All limited and dormant companies, whether they trade or not, must deliver accounts to Companies House each year. Accounts should be submitted to Companies House online, and Companies House will not accept postal delays as a reason to appeal a late filing penalty.
The penalties for late submission are:
| Time after deadline | Penalty |
| Up to 1 month | £150 |
| 1 to 3 months | £375 |
| 3 to 6 months | £750 |
| More than 6 months | £1,500 |
