Small firms should consider team building exercises, expert says

Small businesses should consider team building exercises to help improve performance, according to one expert.

Hilary Jeanes, Leadership Coach and HR Consultant with PurpleLine Consulting, said that far from being cliched, team bonding tasks can have a big effect on the bottom line.

Furthermore, she added that people will feel more committed to the business they work for and increase - and improve the quality of - productivity.

"It can help develop a sense of 'we're all in this together' for shared success everyone making a unique contribution, pulling together to deliver success as a team," she noted.

"If people feel involved, they enjoy their work more, feel more committed to the organisation and the results pay off in terms of improved individual - and business - performance."

It comes after the Federation of Small Businesses' Voice of Small Business Index revealed that confidence is growing in north-west firms ahead of the new year.
