Small business employees 'keen on efficiency' for 2013

Google has found that small business employees are keen on more efficient ways of working, an increase in communication and the ability to go home on time as part of New Year resolutions.

The technology giant questioned 3,500 small firm workers from the UK, France, Germany, the Netherlands, Spain and Italy and found that 38 per cent believe their workload increased last year compared to 2011.

Furthermore, the firm said that 54 per cent of employees found problems with their emails every week - largely because of reaching the mailbox size limit - while meetings were also said to take up a lot of time in the working week.

Neil Delaney, director of small and medium businesses for EMEA at Google Enterprise, explained: "With so many resolving to work more efficiently, perhaps 2013 will be a turning point where we see more small businesses working smarter, collaborating more effectively with their colleagues and customers, and accessing the tools needed for better communication."

It comes after the South Wales Chamber of Commerce revealed that small businesses in the country are feeling confident for 2013.
