HMRC to run live tax webinars on Small Business Saturday

UK small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) can take part in four free live webinars run by HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) on 7th December as part of Small Business Saturday.
 
SMEs can seek advice from the tax authority as part of the day that has been set up to promote the benefits of small businesses and generate new sustainable trade links.
 
HMRC’s Start-up Saturday webinar programme kicks off at 10am and runs through until 5pm with four separate webinars running over the course of the day, aimed at new and prospective businesses.
 
Each live webinar is designed to last an hour, giving the opportunity for viewers to ask questions on everything from business expenses to VAT.
 
Self Employment and HMRC – What you need to know
10am-11am Saturday 7th December
Concentrating on the information sole traders and new business partnerships require in their infancy, covering registration, National Insurance contributions, Self-Assessment and bookkeeping. Register for this webinar

12pm-1pm Saturday 7th December
Aimed at existing small businesses considering setting up as a limited company. This live webinar offers the basics on incorporation and registration with Companies House and HMRC, as well as the timetable for paying Corporation Tax online. Register for this webinar
 
Business Expenses for the Self-Employed
2pm-4pm Saturday 7th December
This two-hour long webinar is geared towards sole traders and partnerships on day-to-day business expenses they are able to claim for tax relief on. This talk covers most of the common business expenses, including motoring costs. Register for this webinar
 
VAT Awareness
4pm-5pm Saturday 7th December
Many fledgling businesses worry about VAT and when they need to register for it. This webinar helps to answer these questions and explains in simple terms how VAT works.
