Govt launches South Korea trade programme

The government has launched a new programme that will help small businesses unlock trade opportunities in South Korea.

An Opportunity Korea programme has been unveiled by UK Trade & Investment, designed to lead to greater collaboration between firms in the UK and the Asian nation.

Events will be taking place in London, Edinburgh, Birmingham, Manchester and Bristol in an attempt to spread the word to small businesses about the opportunities that are available.

Business Secretary Vince Cable says South Korea has a "dynamic pace of growth" that has significant potential for Britain.

"Investment in infrastructure projects and other major economic opportunities mean it is vital for UK companies of all sizes to maximise their own potential to export to South Korea," he noted.

"The skills, innovation and expertise we have in the UK can put us at the forefront of trade with this growing and vibrant economy."

One sector that could be witnessing growth is manufacturing, after the Confederation of British Industry found that firms are confident of future improvements in orders.
