Confidence growing in north-west small businesses, report finds

North-west small businesses are witnessing higher levels of confidence ahead of the start of the new year, according to new research.

The Federation of Small Businesses' (FSB) Voice of Small Business index, published earlier this week, revealed that firms in Liverpool and other parts of the region are more confident than the national average.

Indeed, Liverpool Daily Post reports that the index grew by two points to -3 from -5 the year before.

John Allan, Chairman of FSB Merseyside, West Cheshire and Wigan and national Vice-Chairman, told the news provider: "The FSB's Voice of Small Business index has been a good indicator of GDP.

"With recent forecasts indicating that growth will continue to be slow in 2013, this slight optimism will provide some welcome news."

It comes after FSB revealed that businesses across the country are feeling more positive about their prospects, with confidence on the rise ahead of the new year.
