Childcare vouchers 'vital element' to women-in-work debate

The government must do more to increase the importance of childcare vouchers as it gets set to cut child benefits.

That is according to Iain McMath, managing director of Sodexo Motivation Solutions, who told dofonline.co.uk that there were several positives in a recent speech of Maria Miller, the minister for women, which covered how the government plans to get more women into work.

However, he said that more could have been said on supporting working parents - and in particular, through childcare vouchers.

"One vital element missing from this speech was that of childcare vouchers," he explained. "As the government prepares to cut child benefits for families based around specific pay brackets, the importance of childcare vouchers for working parents will grow rapidly."

Meanwhile, the government is pursuing its policy of "one in, two out" when it comes to regulations on businesses and will continue to implement changes from next year.
