October 31st Tax Return Deadline
|
The deadline for filing your paper tax return is 31st October of this year. If you have been sent a self assessment tax return before or on 31st of July and you are not filing online then the deadline is 31st October. Over three million people left their tax returns until January last year and we believe HMRC are aiming to reduce those leaving it close to the January 31st tax return deadline. |

This ended in their online facility crashing due to the amount of tax returns being processed in one short period of time.
If the paper return is filed after this deadline you will be charged an automatic penalty of £100. Late Partnership tax returns draw a £100 penalty for each partner and late trust and estate tax returns result in a £100 penalty charge to the trust or estate.
Did you know? There are some cases (albeit very few) where tax returns cannot be filed online.
