Tax deadline calendar issued by HMRC

Date: 18th April 2011

HMRC issues new tax calandarSmall business owners operating in the UK could be among those interested in a recent announcement from HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC).

The department has unveiled the publication of its tax deadline calendar for the tax year 2011-12.

Business owners and their accountancy service specialist can use the document to ensure their bookkeeping is up to date in order to avoid any late fees.

HMRC's Brian Redford commented: "This is a useful aide memoire, as the calendar sets out the key fixed and variable dates that an agent needs to know about and plan for."

"For the first time HMRC is also making the calendar's underlying data available so that it can be re-used - for example in 'apps' - as part of HMRC's wider commitment to transparency."

It comes as HMRC recently established a new academy in order to ensure that high standards among accountants are maintained.

Under the initiative, the department will allow its accountants to obtain Tax Professional Qualifications which will be accredited by Manchester Metropolitan University.

Over the past 10 years we believed that if we wanted outstanding service we should use traditional large accountancy firms. Oh how wrong we had been! We had been charged high fees without any real value being added to the business.
