REC joins govt's OTS committee

Date: 8th February 2011

REC joins OTS committeeThe UK leading recruitment industry body has announced that it is to join the government's Office of Tax Simplification (OTS).

Officials from the Recruitment and Employment Confederation (REC) will now join a host of other tax and law experts on the OTS' small business consultative committee.

The OTS is currently reviewing the UK's small business taxation environment, including the controversial IR35 legislation, with a view to creating a less complex system for small firms to operate in.

Gillian Econopouly, the REC's head of policy, commented: "We welcome the work of the OTS and are pleased to join the business committee. We look forward to representing our members' views in this important forum.

"The OTS' work comes at a critical time for the economy and the recruitment industry and we will use this opportunity to promote a tax system that is more navigable and transparent for businesses, and especially smaller enterprises."
