Online videos to tackle taxation matters

Date: 4th March 2009

Online videos will help UK businesses to gain confidence in taxationThe introduction of online videos will help business to tackle taxation issues head on, it has been claimed.

HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) recently announced that it was launching a series of tuition videos intended to help sole traders and business start-ups get to grips with taxation matters.

Responding to this, director of transformational government at the Business Link advisory service, Jonathon Hollow, has commented that the development will make it easier for companies to "digest information".

He said: "As online videos have become much easier and much more accessible people are beginning to demand it as a way of consuming information.

"We have no doubt that this is going to open up tax matters to a wide range of people."

According to statistics from HMRC, over 65 per cent of this year's self-assessment tax returns were filed online through the department's website.

Over the past 10 years we believed that if we wanted outstanding service we should use traditional large accountancy firms. Oh how wrong we had been! We had been charged high fees without any real value being added to the business.
