New tax workshops launched by HMRC

Sole traders and small business owners working in a range of UK industries could be among those to be encouraged by the launch of a new workshop series.

HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC) has announced that it is to hold a number of nationwide events aimed at showing UK businesses how to make the best any help that is made available to them.

The workshops will include advice and demonstrations on a number of issues including tax and sick pay.

Janet Timmins, HMRC's business advice team manager, said: "These are challenging times but our attitude has always been to assist businesses during good times and bad. These events allow us to bring our advice directly to the local business community and offer practical assistance where it is needed.

"It's inevitable that some people will find tax issues daunting, especially those who are just setting out."

Enterprises with particular tax issues could also benefit from contacting a specialist accountancy service in order to ensure their affairs are in order.
