HMRC launches new tax education tool

Date: 26th August 2010

HMRC launches new tax education toolHM Revenue & Customs (HMRC) has launched a revamped version of its tax education tool for teachers.

The new service has been launched in a bid to give students aged between 11 and 19 years a better understanding of the UK's tax system.

According to the department, the new online tool offers a "fun and interactive" way for teachers of personal, social, health and economics (PSHE), business studies and citizenship.

Commenting on the new resource Caroline Smith, a spokesperson for HMRC, said: "We've revamped Tax Matters following feedback from teachers, so it better suits their needs.

"All the teaching materials can now be downloaded onto school computers in advance of lessons, so we would urge PSHE or Citizenship teachers to log on and take a look."

The new learning tool contains three modules focusing on Income Tax, National Insurance and Tax and Society.

Over the past 10 years we believed that if we wanted outstanding service we should use traditional large accountancy firms. Oh how wrong we had been! We had been charged high fees without any real value being added to the business.
