FSB calls for TTP repeat chance

Date: 12th August 2011

FSB calls for TTP extentionSmall businesses that have already made use of the government's Time to Pay (TTP) scheme should be allowed to do so again in light of the recent riots.

That is according to the Federation of Small Businesses (FSB), which praised the government's actions in the aftermath of the riots, but called on HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC) to offer further assistance to smaller enterprises.

John Walker, national chairman of the FSB, said: "With concerns that businesses are not able to use the TTP scheme more than once, the FSB is urging HMRC to ensure that those businesses that have been looted or burnt down and that have used this scheme before are able to use it again.

"The announcement that government will support businesses through the high street support scheme, suspension of business rates payments for affected businesses and help for uninsured firms, is welcomed by the FSB."

Mr Walker also called on consumers to "keep trade local" in order to support their communities and help small businesses get back up and running again.

Over the past 10 years we believed that if we wanted outstanding service we should use traditional large accountancy firms. Oh how wrong we had been! We had been charged high fees without any real value being added to the business.
