Businesses could benefit from increased tax certainty

Date: 22nd February 2010

HM Treasury is seeking feedback on its draft Tax FrameworkBusinesses from a wide range of industries in the UK could be among those to benefit from increased certainty over the country's tax regime following the publication of a new framework.

HM Treasury has published a draft Tax Framework and is now seeking feedback.

The policy has been developed with the intention of providing the UK's businesses with "greater certainty" about the development of tax policy in the country.

Commenting on the publication of the draft proposals, chancellor of the exchequer Alistair Darling said: "The UK is a good place to do business and we want to keep it that way.

"Businesses want certainty on tax. That's is why today I have set out, in collaboration with UK business, the government's key principles for tax policy and how we will engage with business when developing tax policy."

The discussion was developed by the Treasury and the Business-Government forum on Tax and globalisation.

Over the past 10 years we believed that if we wanted outstanding service we should use traditional large accountancy firms. Oh how wrong we had been! We had been charged high fees without any real value being added to the business.
