Tax credit reminder from HMRC

Date: 2nd July 2009

Tax credit reclaims should be filed by July 31stHer Majesty's Revenue and Customs (HMRC) has issued a reminder to all families and individuals currently receiving tax credits that claims must be renewed before July 31st.

People who wish to continue their claim, but fail to renew it by this date may see their payments cease.

HMRC have insisted that people do not leave their reclaim until the last minute and complete the simple procedure as soon as possible.

Richard Summersgill, HMRC's director of benefits and credits, said: "It's important that anyone currently claiming tax credits renews their claim by July 31st, or their money could stop. Don't leave it to the last minute - renew now and avoid a last-minute rush."

To reclaim tax credits entitlement, simply fill out the forms in the renewals pack sent by HMRC.

Changes in circumstances, such as working hours, child care costs and pay will all be considered in assessing reclaims and ensuring people receive what they are entitled to.

Over the past 10 years we believed that if we wanted outstanding service we should use traditional large accountancy firms. Oh how wrong we had been! We had been charged high fees without any real value being added to the business.
