Tax return reminder issued by HMRC

Date: 2nd November 2011

HMRC issues £100 penalty reminderTaxpayers have been reminded by HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC) that filing a paper tax return after the recently-passed deadline will see them handed a £100 fine.

The department has explained that now the October 31st deadline has passed, taxpayers' only option is to file their submission online by January 31st next year.

As such a number of individuals could be tempted to seek the assistance of a specialist accountancy service in order to make sure their bookkeeping is accurate and up to date.

A statement from HMRC warned: "Send in a paper tax return on or after November 1st and you'll have to pay a £100 penalty – even if there is no tax to pay or you pay the tax due on time – following the introduction of a new penalty regime this year. department explained.

"The longer you delay, the more you'll have to pay, as there are further late-filing penalties after three, six and 12 months."

Over the past 10 years we believed that if we wanted outstanding service we should use traditional large accountancy firms. Oh how wrong we had been! We had been charged high fees without any real value being added to the business.
