Self-assessors urged to act now

Those who need to complete a self-assessment tax return have been urged to act nowSmall businesses and self-employed individuals who need to complete a self-assessment tax return have been urged to act quickly.

With the deadline arriving on January 31st, there is now less than two weeks to complete an application and file with HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) through its website.

But, it is also necessary to claim a pin number from HMRC, which must be done by tomorrow (January 21st) to ensure there is sufficient time to complete a submission.

A spokesman for the department commented: "If you haven't filed your return yet, don't worry - there is still time.

"But you will need to make sure you have registered by January 21st, to allow enough time for you to received your activation code and file online."

While HMRC's website can provide some advice on completed a self-assessment tax return, those who require further support should consider consulting a local accountant.
