HMRC unveils 'taxation calendar'

Date: 3rd April 2009

HMRC has unveiled its new taxation calendarHM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) has launched a new taxation calendar to help small business managers remember key financial dates.

Available through the government's Business Link website, the deadline calendar could take much of the hassle out of tax planning.

Included in the package are important dates such as January 31st, when self-assessment tax returns are due.

Assistant director for small and medium enterprises at HMRC, Mike Purvis, commented: "A number of smaller business customers have told us it would be useful to bring together all the key fixed and variable dates in one place.

"The new tax deadline calendar sets these out."

Mr Purvis added that while most business managers would likely remember these dates, he hoped the calendar would be "a useful reminder".

At the start of April, HMRC issued a set of new guidelines relating to the new taxation appeals system, which will see the process handled by an all-encompassing tribunal.

Over the past 10 years we believed that if we wanted outstanding service we should use traditional large accountancy firms. Oh how wrong we had been! We had been charged high fees without any real value being added to the business.
