'Just before 30' perfect age for entrepreneurs

Date: 14th January 2009

Aged 29 is the perfect time to form a business start-up, according to researchJust shy of 30 years old has been revealed as the perfect time for entrepreneurs to start their own business, according to a study.

The investigation by Abbey found that current business owners consider 29 to be the ideal age for setting up your own company, as by this time many already have the required skills and acumen.

What's more, the research discovered that as many as 13 million people in the UK are considering forming a business start-up, despite the country's recession.

A spokeswoman for Abbey business banking, Paula Ickinger, said: "It's a difficult environment in which to launch a business but there will always be opportunities for ambitious entrepreneurs with a solid business plan."

She added that while 29 years old seemed like a young age, the advice from many business professionals was "if you have an idea, you should act".

Those who already run a small business should bear in mind the deadline for self-assessment tax returns, with all submissions being due online by January 31st.

Over the past 10 years we believed that if we wanted outstanding service we should use traditional large accountancy firms. Oh how wrong we had been! We had been charged high fees without any real value being added to the business.
