Female entrepreneurs to 'kick-start economy'
Date: 22nd April 2009
Female entrepreneurs are looking to pull the UK economy out of recession with their own business start-ups, it has been revealed.
An investigation by Business Link, the government's advisory service, revealed that 63 per cent of women who run a business start-up were aiming to develop their enterprise, despite the economic climate.
Additionally, more than a fifth of those surveyed suggested that they intended to launch further business start-ups in the near future.
Chief operating officer at Business Link in London, Fran Currie, said: "The encouraging thing about these figures is that there is still a healthy appetite amongst women business leaders."
Ms Currie added that the economic crisis had "done little to curb their enthusiasm" with many businesswomen remaining committed to growth.
Research by the home-based business website Enterprise Nation published this week showed that more than five million UK entrepreneurs have launched their own business start-ups.
