Everyone 'should start a new business'

The entire human race should attempt to start a new business at some stage in life, according to one expert.

Lord Dennis Stevenson has claimed that there are too many sound bites and clichés in the world of entrepreneurship, saying too many people are caught up in whether or not they will be the next Bill Gates.

The expert explained that the flexibility, challenges and income that running a small business can provide should make the model attractive to everyone.

"When people talk about entrepreneurs, they kind of think 'Oh, am I going to be like Bill Gates?' I think there should be much greater concentration on being a business person with your own business, as a way of life," he commented.

Lord Stevenson suggested that the easiest way to start a new business is to identify common issues and come up with a simple solution.

"It is just applying common sense to the way we live and the way we do things to do it more efficiently. Behind it all, why I encourage people – all my children, their friends and students to think of setting up their own business, is more to do with a way of life and common humanity," he added.
