Brits 'burning with ambition'

Date: 6th March 2008

People in the UK are becoming increasingly ambitious, with seven million Brits claiming they will become millionaires within the next ten years.

A study by Orange Business Services also revealed a gender divide - a majority of women say they would "rely on business skills" and "personal ambition" to make a million, however the study revealed that men would resort to more extreme measures.

According to Orange, 40 per cent of men would be willing to go to prison for a crime they didn't commit if they could claim a million in return.

Director of small businesses at Orange Martin Lyne commented: This research is a positive reflection of the UK's ambition and drive. That millionaire status today is associated as much with business success and personal ambition as it is with a winning lottery ticket is a reflection of our changing attitude towards business and entrepreneurship."

It also emerged that Liverpool is home to a majority of the country's aspiring millionaires - with 40 per cent expecting the millions to roll in.

According to the Times, another way to become a millionaire is by maximising your Isa allowance - a person saving £583 a month from the age of 30 would be a millionaire within 34 years.
