Yorkshire entrepreneur: There should be more women in business
Date: 25th February 2008
A female entrepreneur has told the Yorkshire Post that more businesswomen will "boost" the regional economy.
Deirdre Bounds, one of Yorkshire's most successful female entrepreneurs claims women would be encouraged to set up businesses if more guidance was available to them, such as business accounting advice, tax planning guidance and information on income tax self assessment.
Ms Bounds explains that women need to become "more active" in the "male-dominated" world of business.
"Yorkshire women should not be so reticent and self-effacing when it comes to getting involved in enterprise and claiming its rewards," she insisted.
The entrepreneur, who launched travel company i-to-i, says that more women in business would ultimately benefit everyone.
Female entrepreneurs in Cumbria who have started a business in the last two years will be given £1,000 in support by Voluntary Action Group Cumbria, in an effort to increase their business potential, according to the Press Association.
