Sole traders urged to prioritise

Date: 16th July 2010

Sole traders urged to strike a work-life balanceSole traders working in a number of industries in the UK have been told that they have a greater chance of success if they prioritise their workloads.

Business mentor Toby Buckle said achieving a good work-life balance could also help sole traders focus on their work.

The expert told information website Freelance Adviser that today's business environment can be full of interruptions like emails, social media updates and other business-related distractions.

He claimed that by categorising work tasks and setting time aside to relax, sole traders could benefit from a renewed work focus and prolonged success.

"Make sure you pay attention to health, home and relationships and if you feel they haven't had attention recently blitz them," he advised.

"It doesn't need to be a whole day of focus, just an hour or two could do it. Doing this on a regular basis allows the focus to remain on work tasks."

Over the past 10 years we believed that if we wanted outstanding service we should use traditional large accountancy firms. Oh how wrong we had been! We had been charged high fees without any real value being added to the business.
