REC launches new AWR Toolkit

Date: 17th June 2010

REC issues new AWR guidanceContractors working as sole traders in the UK could be among those to benefit from new guidance being issued with regard to the impending Agency Workers Regulations (AWR).

The EU-inspired legislation is set to be introduced in October 2011 and the Recruitment and Employment Confederation (REC) has recently issued its members with an AWR Toolkit in order to prepare them for any changes.

According to the organisation, the new guidance will help recruitment firms overcome the legal, technological and practical challenges the AWR will bring.

This could help recruiters improve the services they offer contractors once the legislation is enforced.

Tom Hadley, the REC's director of external relations, commented: "This is a significant milestone - the latest stage in a ten-year campaign to ensure that the EU regulations are workable in the UK.

"The AWR are amongst the most significant to ever hit the industry. At the same time, there will be real opportunities for recruiters to demonstrate expertise, leadership and added value in their discussion with clients."

Over the past 10 years we believed that if we wanted outstanding service we should use traditional large accountancy firms. Oh how wrong we had been! We had been charged high fees without any real value being added to the business.
