IR35 announcement to be made 'in due course'

Date: 16th June 2010

Treasury to announce IR35 review 'in due course'Sole traders working in a wide range of UK industries could be among those to be encouraged by a recent announcement about IR35.

The government has confirmed that a review of the controversial tax legislation is under way and details about the review will be released "in due course".

The review was promised as part of a wider look at possible changes that could be made to the UK's tax legislation handbook, which chancellor George Osborne said now resembles a spider web after doubling in length under Labour.

Conservative MP Tony Baldy recently asked Mr Osborne when the completion of the IR35 review can be expected.

The Treasury's response came in the form of a written answer from David Gauke, in which he said: "The government intend to review IR35 as part of a wholesale review of small business taxation. Further details will be announced in due course."

The new coalition's first emergency Budget will be delivered at 12:30 on June 22nd.

Over the past 10 years we believed that if we wanted outstanding service we should use traditional large accountancy firms. Oh how wrong we had been! We had been charged high fees without any real value being added to the business.
