Christmas cheer for sole trader

Date: 18th December 2008

A British sole trader has announced that his business has shown a steady improvement after leaving a regional shopping centre.

The Shield Gazette reported that sole trader Harry Winter, who runs the furniture firm Be House Proud, in Jarrow, was recently evicted from his unit in the InShops retail centre.

Upon opening his business elsewhere in the town, Mr Winter has reported that the number of customers is already on the rise.

He told the Shields Gazette: "Although I'm not in the shopping centre any longer, I'm on a bus route and opposite a bank, so there is fair bit of passing trade.

"The premises are just the right size and I've had quite a few people through the door. I've moved just in time for Christmas"

One issue all sole traders should currently be considering is completing their self-assessment tax returns, which must be submitted to HM Revenue and Customs by January 31st.

Over the past 10 years we believed that if we wanted outstanding service we should use traditional large accountancy firms. Oh how wrong we had been! We had been charged high fees without any real value being added to the business.
