Two-year high for business turnover

Date: 20th April 2010

Highest turnover in two years for small businessesSmall businesses in the UK recorded the highest turnover for more than two years last month, according to new research.

The latest Business Factors Index from Bibby has revealed that March 2009 saw the highest UK small business turnover in 29 months.

According to Bibby, the index reading of 108.1 has not been seen since October 2007.

However, Edward Rimmer, UK chief executive at Bibby Financial Services, said the reading only showed marginal growth over the last three months after "torrid" weather had a negative impact on output.

"While the latest Index reading matches levels not seen for more than two years, it actually only gained an average of 0.5 points over the first quarter of this year," he said.

"That said, March's rise has bought about a sense of renewed optimism and it is encouraging to see so many firms feeling upbeat about an improvement in trading conditions over the course of 2010."

Over the past 10 years we believed that if we wanted outstanding service we should use traditional large accountancy firms. Oh how wrong we had been! We had been charged high fees without any real value being added to the business.
