Small firms urged to make 'simple' energy changes

Date: 7th November 2011

Firms urged to limit energy useSmall business owners around the UK are being urged to make slight changes to their energy use in order to save money.

Siemens has claimed that even simple changes, such as altering the level of air conditioning or lighting used in the workspace, can result in significant savings.

Lee Jones, the company's product manager for energy management, said that the level of these should accurately affect the number of people occupying the space on any given day.

Speaking at the recent Energy Services and Technology Association event in Manchester, Mr Jones commented: "If there are only a handful of people in there, then you do not need the full system running.

"These changes don't cost anybody any money. You can save ten per cent fairly easily just by doing some training."

Meanwhile, a recently-published study by aspect.co.uk, revealed that 13 per cent of respondents would consider reducing their energy use above investing in other energy saving techniques.

Over the past 10 years we believed that if we wanted outstanding service we should use traditional large accountancy firms. Oh how wrong we had been! We had been charged high fees without any real value being added to the business.
