PM must provide planned route to recovery, says BCC

Date: 10th October 2011

PM must provide plan, says BCCSmall business owners and other entrepreneurs in the UK are seeking reassurance over the direction of the UK's economic recovery, the British Chambers Of Commerce (BCC) has clamed.

According to the organisation, prime minster David Cameron must provide businesses with a detailed plan of the route to economic stability.

The comments come after Mr Cameron used the Conservative Party Conference in Manchester to highlight the need for optimism and outline plans to reduce the red tape burden faced by UK firms.

John Longworth, director-general of the BCC, welcomed Mr Cameron's recognition of these issues but called for businesses to be provided with a definite route to fiscal stability.

"Businesses will welcome the prime minister's commitment to cutting red tape and to get credit flowing to small companies. For too long, these obstacles have hampered companies' ability to focus on wealth creation and jobs, acting as a distraction and a drag anchor," he commented.

"Entrepreneurs tell me they want to hear more about how business is good for Britain in the months ahead. The immediate task now facing the prime minister and cabinet is to lay out the route to recovery, with alternative paths at the ready in case of further shocks from foreign shores."

Meanwhile, the Bank of England recently pumped £75 billion in to the economy through its quantitative easing programme in order to stave off "the worst recession in 80 years".

Over the past 10 years we believed that if we wanted outstanding service we should use traditional large accountancy firms. Oh how wrong we had been! We had been charged high fees without any real value being added to the business.
