New online tax return podcast for employers

Date: 17th April 2008

Details regarding a new online tax return form have been explained in a podcast launched recently by HM Revenues & Customs (HMRC), it has emerged.

HMRC is keen to encourage small businesses in particular to watch its podcast and find out how east it can be to fill out relevant tax return forms via the internet.

Unlike companies with 50 or more employees, small firms still have the option of filling in their tax return forms by post and those that do can benefit to the tune of £100, the tax office has explained.

"Online filing is quick, secure and easy to use," said Don Macarthur, head of HMRC's employer team.

"So if you're a small employer, download the podcast now and see how easy it is to file online and get yourself a £100 bonus."

Large companies, namely those with more than 250 employees, have been obliged to fill out their tax return forms electronically since May 2004 and the same rule has been effective for medium-sized businesses since 2006.
