Government needs small businesses to rebuild economy

The government should look to small businesses in its bid to rebuild the economy, says the Federation of Small Businesses (FSB).

Having released figures indicating that small businesses were beginning to show signs of growth, the FSB has suggested that the government look to the nation's smaller firms in order to establish a healthier Britain.

John Wright, national chairman of the FSB, said: "The government must look to small businesses to build the post recession economy."

He further added that in order to do this however, small businesses would need assistance from the government.

Mr Wright said: "[The government must] help [small businesses] employ more people and ease the bureaucracy and tax burdens which many still face."

He went on to say that although the country was not "out of the woods", many small firms were beginning to see increased footfall.

Research conducted by the FSB over the past ten months has indicated that 23 per cent of businesses are showing signs of increased trade.
