Date: 19th January 2010

The CIPD are to discuss rewards and recovery in a meeting next monthSmall firms working in the UK could soon learn how best to plan their business strategy as the country begins its economic recovery.

The Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD) is to hold a series of meetings next month to discuss how the UK can take the best advantage of any economic recovery over the next 12 months.

Small businesses who offer performance-related incentives to employees could also stand to benefit from discussion on how to produce "engaging reward packages".

This will also be explored at the meetings, which are due to be held in London on February 23rd and 24th.

Charles Cotton, reward adviser at the CIPD, said: "The recession has … raised many core questions around linking reward to individual and business performance and the role of pay in attracting and incentivising employees.

"For those professionals grappling with these tough questions, this conference offers a great opportunity to hear how different companies are revisiting their strategies and how they’ll be approaching reward in the next 12 months."

Over the past 10 years we believed that if we wanted outstanding service we should use traditional large accountancy firms. Oh how wrong we had been! We had been charged high fees without any real value being added to the business.
