Could flexible working save small firms time and money?

Date: 2nd August 2010

Orange encourages flexible workingSmall businesses operating in the UK could be among those encouraged to offer more flexible working process following recent comments.

Communications giant Orange has said that taking a more flexible approach to employment could provide firms with "significant opportunities" to save time and money.

The organisation highlighted the benefits that businesses could notice by allowing employees to work remotely and move away from the standard office-based nine-to-five working model.

Max Taylor, director of corporate marketing at Orange, part of new company Everything Everywhere, said: "By understanding the benefits that flexible working can have on a business, bosses can be better prepared to embrace the practice.

"Allowing employees to work flexibly actually presents a significant opportunity for businesses to save money and improve employee morale."

The comments follow the publication of an Orange report, which revealed that more than half or recent graduates expect flexible working to be the standard when they enter employment.

Over the past 10 years we believed that if we wanted outstanding service we should use traditional large accountancy firms. Oh how wrong we had been! We had been charged high fees without any real value being added to the business.
