CBI outlines its vision for UK business

Date: 1st April 2008

The Confederation of British Industry (CBI) has presented the four candidates for London mayor with its vision for the future of UK business.

The CBI presented candidates including Boris Johnson, Sian Berry, Brian Paddick and current mayor Ken Livingston with its seven-point business manifesto, in a bid to help London maintain its "competitive edge".

Nigel Bourne, director of the CBI's London region, said: "The CBI manifesto is a direct call to all the candidates to address the priorities of the business community and deliver policies which build on our strong foundations and deliver further prosperity and productivity for the capital."

Mr Bourne said the business manifesto was a "direct call" to the candidates to address the concerns of business owners.

The CBI's manifesto covers a number of points, including the need to improve infrastructure, attract more investment to the city and ensure that the 2012 Olympics have a positive impact on the area.

The 2008 London mayor elections will take place on May 1st.
