CBI calls for increased business support

Date: 13th October 2011

CBI calls for additional business supportSmall businesses operating around the UK could be among those interested in the recent comments of one industry body.

The Confederation of British Industry (CBI) has called on the government to offer businesses additional support in order to stimulate job creation.

It comes after recently-published figures from the Office for National Statistics revealed that UK unemployment is now at a 17-year high.

Indeed, a rise of 114,000 people in the three months to August left the unemployment total standing at 2.57 million.

Katja Hall, CBI chief policy director, said: "Today's unemployment numbers make grim reading, especially for our young people. The continuing rise in youth unemployment is a grave concern for us all.

"Businesses are still creating jobs and only continuing private sector growth can help us out of the current tumult. With jobs falling in the public sector, it's vital the Government does everything it can to support businesses to grow and create jobs, and help young people get into work."

Over the past 10 years we believed that if we wanted outstanding service we should use traditional large accountancy firms. Oh how wrong we had been! We had been charged high fees without any real value being added to the business.
