The majority of businesses would recommend the governmentA recent report from business advice organisation Business Link has revealed healthy levels of satisfaction among users of its Train to Gain initiative.

The government-funded project, which launched in 2004, aims to assist businesses that employ between two and 5,000 people in ensuring their staff are adequately skilled.

Figures from the latest Business Link study have revealed that 80 per cent of the businesses that have used the scheme would recommend it to other employers.

Business Link has now moved to remind employers in London, with a workforce of less that 5,000, that they are eligible to receive free advice from a London Brokerage Skills Adviser to see how they and their staff could benefit.

Denise Fresco, company director of The Courier Service, which used the scheme, said: "The scheme gives businesses the ability to access training for their employees when they are not in a position to spend large amounts of money.

"The training provides much-needed additional skills to help the efficiency and productivity of the business."

Over the past 10 years we believed that if we wanted outstanding service we should use traditional large accountancy firms. Oh how wrong we had been! We had been charged high fees without any real value being added to the business.
