Business boost for UK leisure industry

Business minister delighted to see signs of recoverySmall businesses in the UK leisure and small commercial marine industry may soon require assistance with their bookkeeping after the sector has started to show signs of recovery.

Latest figures have revealed that international trade in the industry has increased to £1.248 billion.

This represents a rise of 13.6 per cent when compared to the previous year.

Speaking at the Tullet Prebon International Boat Show in London, business minister Ian Lucas, said: "In what has been a year of unprecedented challenges for the UK leisure and small commercial marine industry, these figures indicate that recovery from the financial crisis has started in earnest.

"I am especially pleased with the latest export figures, which are a resounding vote of confidence in British innovation, manufacturing and services from international businesses."

Figures from the British Marine Federation support the view, revealing that annual revenue in the sector has increased by 1.9 per cent to £3.16 billion.
