Being your own boss 'better for health'

Date: 22nd December 2008

Owning your own small business can have health and lifestyle benefits, according to new research.

An investigation by Premierline Direct discovered that the vast majority (82 per cent) of small enterprises owners claim that they feel no more stressed since they have become their own boss.

What's more, over 50 per cent of respondents stated that they had never been awakened during the night to attend an 'urgent' business matter.

Managing director of Premierline Direct, Chris Little, said: "It's great to hear that business owners are reaping the rewards of being their own boss.

"Starting a business takes a lot of hard work and provides many challenges."

He concluded that owners and managers can "remove unnecessary strain" by making sure that they use reliable service providers and suppliers.

One other issue small firms should keep in mind is the self-assessment tax return deadline, which falls on January 31st.

Over the past 10 years we believed that if we wanted outstanding service we should use traditional large accountancy firms. Oh how wrong we had been! We had been charged high fees without any real value being added to the business.
