Appointments through networking 'crucial for business'

Date: 5th December 2008

Appointments made through networking will be crucial for businesses to survive, according to one expert.

Brad Burton, the managing director of 4Networking, claims that business start-up managers who meet with client on a personal basis are more likely to come through the recession.

One of the ways in which this can be initiated is through online social networking tools, which are becoming increasingly of use to business start-ups.

Mr Burton said: "Companies who are actually out there having face to face appointments will be here to stay.

"We are going to see a lot of people losing their businesses but the ones who are out there pointing their businesses … in the right direction will survive."

He added that ten minutes face-to-face is generally enough time to establish whether there is common ground to come to an agreement.

Recent research by the Chartered Management Institute revealed that nearly 60 per cent of managers claim freedom to use the internet is "useful for research."

Over the past 10 years we believed that if we wanted outstanding service we should use traditional large accountancy firms. Oh how wrong we had been! We had been charged high fees without any real value being added to the business.
