SME owners offered free broadband

Date: 2nd October 2008

Owners and managers of British business start-ups have been offered a free broadband service by a major telecoms firm.

Through Orange's Broadband for Business offer, small to medium enterprises (SMEs) will receive free high speed internet access for the duration of their mobile phone contract.

What's more, businesses may also be offered unlimited downloads and free customer service calls as part of the deal.

Mike Newnham, a spokesman for Orange, said: "We've seen huge improvements in the quality of our broadband network and the service we offer.

"That's why we're able to unveil an up to 8Mbps Home Broadband service as standard for new customers right across our broadband offering."

Using the company's Livebox modem, small enterprises can set up connections for up to eight office employees and home workers.

Telecoms prices for small businesses have seen a rare reduction in price over the last years, as have accountancy costs.

Over the past 10 years we believed that if we wanted outstanding service we should use traditional large accountancy firms. Oh how wrong we had been! We had been charged high fees without any real value being added to the business.
