Accountants get new podcast from HMRC

In a bid to improve the quality of services accountants offer their small business clients, HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC) has launched a new podcast containing valuable information about the country's taxation regime.

The new podcast is designed to provide accountants with details about the new penalty regime and HMRC's services for agents.

In the new download, HMRC's director of the agents and employers service improvement programme (AESIP), Brian Redford, discusses what the organisation means when it talks about 'reasonable care'.

He also explores "what practical help is available for agents on the new penalty regime for incorrect returns".

What's more, the tax expert "talks honestly about HMRC's services for agents, and how his team are working to improve them".

The new podcast is available for download from HMRC's website.

Recently, HMRC revealed that it was set to host a series of seminars for Northern Irish accountants to improve the quality of the services they offer small business clients.

The meetings will provide information about topics including how to calculate a director's national insurance contribution; issues surrounding VAT; and the best methods to pay employees.
