Will report lead contractors to seek London-based work?

Date: 28th January 2011

London could prove attractive for contractorsLondon is a key market for those operating in the contracting market, a new report has suggested.

Figures recently published by recruitment specialist Poolia have shown that three quarters of temporary workers in the capital reported opportunity levels rising or being sustained over the course of 2010.

Furthermore, the study showed that a third of such professionals have seen their pay rates increase over the last 12 months, while a further 40 per cent have seen pay remain unchanged.

Gavin Warner, Poolia's operations director, said: "Our customers are telling us that they are likely to maintain temporary levels going into 2011, especially in financial services, retail and banking, which means anyone with skills and experience who is able to build flexibility into their work structure will be well placed to find great short-term opportunities in the coming year."

The research also indicated that 60 per cent of respondents intend to study for a new professional qualification in 2011.

Over the past 10 years we believed that if we wanted outstanding service we should use traditional large accountancy firms. Oh how wrong we had been! We had been charged high fees without any real value being added to the business.
