UK needs entrepreneurs, says expert

Date: 31st March 2011

Young entrepreneurs will be key to economic future, says expertA generation of budding entrepreneurs is needed to ensure that the UK's economy can grow in the future.

That is according to John May, chief executive of Young Enterprise, who said entrepreneurs will play a key role in creating jobs and helping the country compete in the global marketplace.

"At a time of soaring youth unemployment, the UK economy urgently needs young people to have the enterprising skills and attitudes to become tomorrow’s entrepreneurs, business leaders and enterprising employees.

"Ultimately they will be the generation that will help drive our economic recovery, growing businesses, creating jobs and competing globally."

The comments follow the launch of Start-Up Britain, a new government campaign backed by big businesses aimed at offering new enterprises expert support in practices such as IT and online advertising.

Over the past 10 years we believed that if we wanted outstanding service we should use traditional large accountancy firms. Oh how wrong we had been! We had been charged high fees without any real value being added to the business.
