UK 'good place for new businesses'
Date: 14th January 2008
The UK currently has the right conditions for starting up a new business, an industry group has claimed.
According to the Federation of Small Businesses (FSB), it is "quite easy" to set up a new enterprise in the UK at the moment, particularly compared with the obstacles facing prospective small business owners in other parts of Europe.
FSB spokesperson Simon Briault said that, in countries such as France, many people have difficulty establishing their own company because they are required to become a member of a regulatory organisation before they can go into business.
Speaking about current circumstances in the UK, he commented: "There isn't the red tape and the legal hoops to jump through that you have to jump through in other European countries."
Mr Briault added that British businesses usually face more problems when trying to expand than they do setting up.
The Forum of Private Business recently urged small company owners to make sure they complete their tax returns before the January 31st deadline.
