Rise in female entrepreneurial activity welcomed by FSB

Date: 2nd June 2008

The increase in the number of women opting to establish their own business has been welcomed by the Federation of Small Businesses (FSB).

According to a representative from the FSB, a number of women in their 30s and 40s are now choosing to establish their own businesses within their own home.

"The number of women setting up a business is increasing rapidly, which is really good news," said the representative from the FSB, an organisation established in 1974.

"Often women who do start up a business are doing it later in life, in their 30s or 40s, and a lot of women-owned businesses are start-ups from home."

It was also noted by the FSB representative that it has become slightly easier for women to achieve a better work-life balance.

The FSB has a membership base of more than 205,000 individuals.

Over the past 10 years we believed that if we wanted outstanding service we should use traditional large accountancy firms. Oh how wrong we had been! We had been charged high fees without any real value being added to the business.
