Recruit online or fail, business told

Date: 31st January 2011

Businesses urged to recruit onlineSmall businesses that do not recruit online will fail within three years, it has been claimed.

Paul Daley, director of HR consulting and services at Ochre House, has claimed that the "archaic" methods being utilised by those not making use of online platforms are providing a poor experience for their potential candidates.

"At the moment, some people are using social recruiting and traditional methods, but sooner or later they're going to give up on the traditional methods or they'll be left high and dry," he commented.

"If you're not online you'll probably be out of business pretty quickly because I don't know how you'll find anyone and if you're not moving to using more forward-thinking online methods you're going to go out of business in three years time."

The comment come after fashion retailer Primark revealed that is to recruit exclusively online for positions at its new store in Scunthorpe.

Over the past 10 years we believed that if we wanted outstanding service we should use traditional large accountancy firms. Oh how wrong we had been! We had been charged high fees without any real value being added to the business.
