New website launched for flexible working

Date: 19th June 2008

A new flexible working website has been released for senior professionals and managers, it has emerged.

Released by the charity Working Families and entitled Work Re-tune, the website has been launched with the aim of persuading more senior members of staff to adopt flexible working practices.

Presently, approximately 14 million individuals work in Britain on a flexible basis, reports Personnel Today.

"This unique new resource challenges the myth that senior roles cannot be flexible. It helps both senior people and their employers to think afresh about how a role can be done differently," said Sarah Jackson OBE, chief executive of Working Families.

Ms Jackson also commented that at this level, flexible working initiatives are beneficial to both employee and company.

The charity's tool has received sponsorship from the government's Quality Part-time Work Fund.

In related news, the UK government is hoping the flexible working uptake will increase by 4.5 million.
