Hung parliament would be dangerous, says veteran MP

Date: 4th May 2010

Veteran MP warns of hung parliament A hung parliament result in this week's general election would be "dangerous" for the UK's economy, according to one veteran MP.

Ken Clarke, who was present in the House of Commons during the 1974 hung parliament, has warned that the same result this year could have a negative impact on economic confidence.

In an interview with the Sun newspaper the Conservative MP claimed a hung parliament could see millions of homes and jobs lost in the UK.

"A hung parliament is very dangerous. If people lose confidence in our ability to pay our debts then the International Monetary Fund will have to do it for us," he told the newspaper.

"People will have to worry about their jobs again because their businesses may not be able to pay high interest rates on borrowing. Mortgages will go up and there'll have to be more public sector cuts."

Voters are due to take to the polling stations on Thursday (May 6th).

Over the past 10 years we believed that if we wanted outstanding service we should use traditional large accountancy firms. Oh how wrong we had been! We had been charged high fees without any real value being added to the business.
